Microsoft MakeCode 

Microsoft MakeCode is a free, open source platform for creating engaging computer science learning experiences that support a progression path into real-world programming. 

Students new to coding can start with colored blocks that they can drag and drop onto their workspace to construct their programs. 

Python Editor for micro:bit 

micro:bit Python editor is designed with teachers and learners in mind: you can easily enlarge the text size for sharing on a large screen or whiteboard, download projects as Python text files or .HEX files ready to flash onto a micro:bit. It also works with micro:bit classroom.

Recommended that 1-4 students can work with each kit and a RVR+.

 

Do all the inventions need to be built on top of RVR+?

No, you can create extensions for RVR+ but you can also create other inventions that are not connected to RVR+, but can still interact with the robot or create something completely separate.

 

Why do I have 3 different cables? 

  • Split cable is used to power both your littleBits as well as send data to RVR+ from the micro:bit. The side with a white strip should connect to the micro:bit and the other side should connect to the p3 powerbit, you only need to use this cable if you are using the micro:bit adaptor and micro:bit
  • Single USB cable connects to the p3 power bit to power your inventions with RVR+
  • Battery cable connects to the p7 Power bit to power your invention outside of RVR+

 

Are only the bits included in the RVR+ topper kit compatible with RVR+?

No, use any bits to expand RVR+. However only the micro:bit adaptor with a micro:bit can be used to connect both RVR+ with micro:bit and littleBits
